This is every day for those of us here at TheShirtPrinter.com but not everyone is so lucky. So a BBC Radio station, bbc6music, has declared Friday December 4th as Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt to work day. Though this t-shirt holiday is more of a hallmark holiday we think it should be celebrated by all. Many companies have scaled back their uniform policy and incorporated casual Friday dress codes. This idea is a great way to add some zest to a boring Friday at the office. Why stop with band t-shirts? T-shirt or not…..That is the question!

I don’t consider myself an expert on t-shirts but I am a coinsure of sorts and would consider my knowledge of t-shirts to be more vast than most. So, it surprises me when I learn something completely new about our cotton friend. T-shirt etiquette! Did you know there was such a thing? Other than not wearing one to church and not wearing a white t-shirt after labor day I had never heard of any. I recently stumbled upon a T-shirt etiquette guide for custom marathon t-shirts. If you go googling around you will find more guides of where and when to wear your custom printed t-shirts.
Apparently in the running and triathlete community there are individuals that will actually wear t-shirts to elevate their status among other athletes. Or, so it seems that way to those in that community. According to my readings that is as shameful as having your own trophy created for a race you never won. The first rule on the list of many is to never wear a marathon t-shirt for a run that you have not participated in. I like the term “participated in” because I did once participate in a 5k but stopped half way through for cocktails and lunch and never actually finished the race. So, according to this guide I’m still allowed to wear my t-shirt. I’m happy because it is one of my favorite Hanes Long Sleeve Beefy T’s and it gets lots of use in the winter. The full list of marathon t-shirt etiquette is quite long and brutal so make sure you take a good look at it before showing off your screen printed t-shirt.
The concert and band t-shirt etiquette guide is a bit more forgiving. They have a short list and only one big definite no no. One must never under any circumstance wear a Beatles, Bob Marley, or Jim Hendrix t-shirt unless they have actually been to one of the concerts. Why other greats such as Madonna, Liza and Barbara aren’t on this list I haven’t a clue but I’ll leave t-shirt rule making to the pros. Here at TheShirtPritner.com we don’t impose any rules or regulations on when and where you can show off your custom printed t-shirts. We think t-shirts should be worn all day every day. Breast Cancer is no Monkey Business…. Or is it?

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month TheShirtPritner.com has been flooded with custom t-shirt orders for various organizations, fundraisers, walks, and runs. Many choose to show their support for all affected by breast cancer with custom printed t-shirts displaying the notorious pink ribbon.
Even this Orangutan at the St. Louis Zoo has joined the fight against Breast Cancer by showing off a t-shirt of his own. We are not sure if he is heading out for a walk or maybe he just has a collection plate outside his cage. Nonetheless we thought these t-shirt photos were definitely worth sharing.

PHS Students and ACLU win custom t-shirt battle

Custom printed t-shirts and the ACLU have fought against many organizations to help protect rights under the first amendment. Recently, students from Palmerton Area High School wore t-shirts protesting the schools new dress code that bans facial piercing and unnatural hair color hair. The t-shirts simply said “Property of PHS”. Each t-shirt also contained the student’s identification number. School administration saw the t-shirts as disruptive and several students were given suspensions and asked to remove their t-shirts. The students contacted the local ACLU. The ACLU threatened legal actions towards the school causing the t-shirt ban and suspensions to be lifted. There is no word yet rather PHS is taking the advice given in a previous blog post from TheShirtPrinter.com suggesting the t-shirts become the new school uniform. However, we are guessing that they don’t want a daily reminder that they were outsmarted by their students.

Igor Vovkovinskiy, a seven foot and eight inch tall man from Rochester, Minn towered over other spectators at the Target Center in Minneapolis during a recent presidential convention. Though many were wearing their favorite Obama T-shirts Igor’s custom made t-shirt stood out like a billboard reading “World’s Biggest, Obama Supporter.” He was immediately spotted by President Obama, and the men in space. He was able to score a photo with the President and his undoubtedly extra tall custom t-shirt.

Raed Jarrar received 240,000 for his t-shirt that ban him from boarding a plane in August of 2006. His custom printed t-shirt contained Arabic writing that translated to “we will not be silent”. I have to say that I am encouraged to grow a thick beard, grab some prayer beads, a turban and custom t-shirt of my own to see if I too could be racially profiled and have my freedom of speech violated for a 250,000 cash out.
Students in the Palmerton Area School District got the attention of the district and the ACLU when they wore t-shits protesting the schools new dress code. The t-shirts simply said “Property of PHS” and contained their student identification number. At least one student was given an in school suspension for using the custom printed t-shirt to exercise his rights under the First Amendment. The t-shirts where not protesting that t-shirts had been ban, because they had not, it was protesting that the school had ban piercing any place but the ears and hair dyed any shade of florescent. My two cents on this t-shirt scandal? Instead of punishing these kids reward them for having a great idea. Use the “Property of PHS” t-shirts as the new school uniform. Everyone loves t-shirts and they are comfortable. Additionally, with digital printing technology bar codes could even be added to the t-shirts making roll call a snap. Woman: Suspect Is Wearing My T-Shirt

This is the latest in TheShirtPritner.com coverage of silly criminals and custom t-shirts. A Greensboro North Carolina woman said her house was broken into in the middle of the night by a man who offered her $500.00 to hide him. The 70 year old woman sprung from bed and said “you can have the house, I’m outta here”. The criminal grabbed an assortment of clothing and split. Apparently, it contained one of the ladies favorite t-shirts. “Yeah, ’cause that’s my t-shirt he’s got on,” the lady said she told police during a suspect line up. “It made me mad because my daughter had just sent me that T-shirt from Florida.”
